Several Split Fountains is at once a wry homage to Ed Ruscha and a celebration of a printing technique. After imitating the typography of the beginnning of Twentysix Gasoline Stations, down to the dedication to Patty Callahan, there are 13 rectangular split fountains of solid color. The book ends with a split fountain of the rtist's printer's mark with the addition of a red ampersand. A separate sheet, the Table of Colors, lists the names of the inks used.
