From the artist: "The edition is made from copies of the catalogue of the Marcel Broodthaers retrospective exhibition organized by the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN, in 1989. My first encounter with Broodthaers's work, his Un Jardin d'Hiver installation in the "Europe in the '70x" exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago (1977), strongly influenced me as a young artist. I was especially taken with Broodthaers's book works, just at the moment when I was organizing White Walls, the magazine of artists' writings I subsequently edited in Chicago between 1978 and 1987. [Number] 3/10 was part of a package of works returned to me two years ago from a gallery that formerly represented me in Los Angeles. In the meantime the rest of the edition was sold, so yours is the last copy."
