The above essay was written in cursive (on six pages) on the back of three (x two-page) copies of:

Censorship in South Africa, a symposium – held in German, English and Afrikaans on 29 February 1972 at the Deutscher Verein, Paul Krugerstr, 114, Pretoria. There were four addresses at the symposium, one of which was given by Battiss:
