Additional notes:
Before the invention of photocopies or Amazon (where the book is now available at $55!), Battiss often copied material which interested him from difficult-to-obtain books, particularly on Rock Art, in his distinctive cursive script. But what is particularly interesting, is that he also copied the illustrations. This is a beautiful copy.

Battiss comments in red on the cover: This little book of 100 pages of text and over 173 illustrations is excellent for its collections and extractions of new material for comparison purposes. The illustrations are often mere sketches. He quotes from Stow frequently. The photographs are particularly[?] clear especially those for the Burley Cave in the Barkly East. On page 23 he refers to H[elen]. Tongue - Oxf 1909 - a year before this.
