On p19: A drawing after Battiss, from a painting of the Mantis Dance in "Valley of Art", Cape Province. There is a long tradition of beautiful Bushman drawings, such as the lively painting (above) at Witkransspruit, Barkly East, Cape Province.

Including a letter to Battiss dated August 14, 1953: Dear Mr Battiss: Thank you for one of the most delightful and interesting permission letters we've ever received. It conjures up fascinating pictures.
