Additional notes:
Bound by Jean de Gonet: grey flexible boards embossed in blind and inlaid with brown morocco, smooth gray calf spine lettered in red, exposed sewing along two gray fabric straps, edges plain, black endleaves, original wrappers bound in. One of the binder's characteristic "edition bindings" (marked "Souscripton no. 3") with grommets and screws, of which this is No. 23/200 and signed by the binder on the front endpaper.

First edition, one of nine copies on Vélin Neige, this is No. 1: "Il a été tiré de cet ouvrage neuf exemplaires sur Vélin Neige numérotés de 1 a 9 et trois hours commerce numerotes de H.C. 1 a H.C. 3 constituant l'édition originale". Inscribed by Elie Wiesel to Pierre l'Hoste: "Par Pierre l'Hoste - en toute amitié, Elie Wiesel". [To Pierre l'Hoste: in all friendship].

A pink feather is inlaid at the front of the book which the bookseller maintains is an indication of the fact that de Gonet bound the book himself and was not just made at his workshop by an employee.
