35 numbered brown envelopes, each with a card within. Each card and envelope is numbered on the front, which has the same image (apart from a different sticker), and a different image on the back
All envelopes have been sent through the post with a South African Stamp on the right and an SPG stamp on the left and are addressed to Warren Siebrits, Privte Bat X11, Biman Park, 2015.
A performance carried through flight, the War- Pigeon endeavors to carry and deliver the broken fragments of testimony, through the illusive medium of watercolour stains and tissue text.
At a time when those who bear living witness to genocide are few and fewer, this work seeks to stamp testimony into living memory through a medium much-loved, little-used today but so much harder to dispose of … ‘The Intrepid Postcard’.
A series of pages, from my artists book ‘Pool of Tears’ to be collected, piece by piece, assembling the narrative and score with each posted page.
And as the testimony finds its place in the hands of its recipient, it’s now re-assembled form, will take shape and its story will once again be told -
The truth goes viral; imprinted for posterity - carried and passed to the next generations.
