Additional notes:
The pages from a Modern Library edition of James Joyce's 'Ulysses' were cut from the book at the spine and glued end to end to make a scroll. As a scroll, the text mimics Joyce's thematic structure: The June day in Dublin and Bloom's life are revealed and left behind, one moment at a time.

A Binding of the Modern Library edition, New York, 1956.

A wooden structure was fabricated using painted pine for the framaework, brass hardward, and ebony for the knobs. This was mounted into a full leather case. The original book was cut at the spine, its covers (and spine) were affixed to the cover as decorative panels, and the mirrors were mounted inside as doubleures. The original cut pages were pasted end to end to create the scroll which was then rolled onto the mechanism.

Design Proposal for the Competion: Full bound in brown Oasis with red Oasis inlay panels. Title blind stamped in spine. Scrolling page structure. Mirror doubleures.
