The poem is really prescient.

The Vagabond by W. W. Battiss

The world is round,

But I am square;

I've proved a misfit everywhere.

Many a gift I've squandered,

Many a mile I've wandered,

Many a day I've hungered,

Many a time I've wondered,

“Was it God or me who blundered?”

The scrapbook was dedicated to his mother and contains clippings of poems and one of Walter Battiss dated Aug 1938, a photograph of “My beloved son Alfred” and several letters laid in.
