Born in Sierre, Valais, in 1967, Laurence Bonvin currently lives and works in Lisbon and Switzerland. She graduated from the National School for Photography in Arles, France (ENSP, 1988-1991) and is an associated professor for photography at ECAL (Art and Design University Lausanne) since 2001. Her work received several prizes, such as the Swiss Art Award (2002 & 2006) in Basel, the Swiss Camera Prize at the Short Films Days in Wintertour (2016) and the Swiss Film prize at the International Animation Film Festival in Baden (2020). She was also awarded several artist residencies with Pro Helvetia in Cairo (2021) and South Africa (2009) and with Blackrock in Dakar (2019). Laurence Bonvin shows her work regularly in Switzerland and abroad in solo and collective exhibitions. Her works are part of public and private collection
